Alvin joined DBHi as a Bioinformatics Scientist in 2018. His primary role is working with Dr. John Maris to support translational Neuroblastoma research efforts. Alvin received a BS in Biology with a minor in mathematics from Andrews University, an MS in Biochemistry from Loma Linda University, and PhD in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology from UNC Charlotte. His PhD research was around algorithms for de novo prediction of transcription factor binding sites. Prior to joining CHOP, Alvin was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the NIH where he elucidated pathways related to immunology and cell signaling and performed structural analysis to evaluate mechanisms of mutated proteins using NGS and proteomics data. In his free time Alvin enjoys snow boarding and spartan races.
