Kai Tan, PhD
Associate Professor, Pediatrics
Kai received a dual faculty appointment in 2016 from The Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics and The Department of Pediatrics, Oncology Division. His research lab resides primarily within the Center for Childhood Cancer Research and specializes in tumor genomics and bioinformatics. Kai’s research focuses on genomic and epigenomic mechanisms that regulate gene transcription in the development of cancer and has pioneered the development of novel computational strategies and systems biology to identify molecular events, such as enhancer-promoter interactions, that influence cancer progression. Kai received his PhD from Washington University in Saint Louis and served as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of California San Diego. He also holds a BS from Beloit College.
