Pichai Raman, PhD
Supervisory Bioinformatics Scientist
Pichai joined DBHi's Bioinformatics group in February 2013 after working for 7 years as a computational biologist at the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR). At NIBR, he worked as part of a multi-faceted team, collaborating with investigators from various disease areas on target/biomarker discovery, compound mechanism of action, and predictive gene expression signatures. In addition he worked with informatics specialists to build computational pipelines and data mining frameworks to process and analyze high volumes of genetic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data. At CHOP, he is serving a similar role, leading a multi-disciplinary team to develop bioinformatics solutions to service the broader pediatric cancer community, collaborating with a number of institutes to supporting bioinformatics initiatives and enterprise application, and working collaboratively with investigators on early target discovery efforts, biomarker discovery, and patient stratification. Pichai holds a master's degree in biophysics from The Ohio State University and a bachelor's degree in cell & molecular biology from the University of Michigan. He received his doctorate from Drexel University in biological and biomedical sciences.
